Northern Pike Fishing on Lake Ontario
The Northern Pike season in Henderson harbor opens the 1st Saturday in May every year. These fish spend most of their time in the back bays of Henderson Harbor and Chamount bay. They lurk along the weed edges and depths of 5-25' feet of water preying on whatever they can. They are very aggressive most of the time and will hit just about everything that goes by them. They average 18"-25", with some reaching up to 40" and up to 25lbs. We troll with light tackle and planer boards in shallow water, sure to give you a nice fight. For most people they are thought of as a garbage fish and known for being boney. Our fish cleaners know how to filet them and take all the bones out and the fish are absolutely delicious in the spring. Out of the cold weather the meat is pure white flakey tasty meat
